Don Buri – Katsudon(pork)

Katsudon…..its a breaded pork cooked in egg & sweet soy sauce over steamed rice. You can also try this using chicken(torikatsu) or in beef(gyudon). . . Did you know that consumption of Pork in moderate quantities is helpful in gaining energy. It is good for skin, eyes, nervous system, bones and mental performance. Intake of Pork also ensures better immunity to body due to presence of essential antioxidants. But excessive eating of pork especially its fat may cause heart disease and may rise to hi-blood pressure….I recommend to eat less pork meat on your daily diet.

Ingredients: Good for one bowl

Pork bread mix

  • 100 gms pork meat
  • flour for breading

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp crushed ginger

*in a sauce pan, combine all ingredients and bring to boil, set aside(makes 4-6 servings)

You will also need onion rings & onion leeks and dried strips of “nori”(seaweeds) as optional.

Procedure:

  • in a little pan, pour in 1/2 cup of sweet soy sauce, bring to boil then add breaded pork meat, pour in remaining egg, onion rings & leeks. cover until egg is cooked. serve in a bowl of steamed rice.
