Spicy Pepsi Chicken
Pepsi Chicken………………..This is just out of curiosity recipe. Since I posted Coca-cola chicken maybe 2 years ago which turns out to be one of my popular post during that year. It came to my mind that i want to try it again. Because when you do food blogging at home, everyday is a different meal for us as I post every single recipe I cook at home. So back to the coca cola chicken, I was in the middle of cooking where everything is ready; I saute the onions, garlic ginger chicken, I add the condiments and last would be the coke as my substitute for water. When I opened my cup board. I saw ….. Yes I saw a PEPSI!!! and Its PEPSI MAX, no sugar! Wow, I said OMG! Since I think it is a soda as well minus sugar. I give it a try! Sorry Coca cola, you didn’t give me an advertisement for my post! and it taste good, maybe even better! (hahahaha coke) well, I like both Pepsi and Coke!…….Must try!
Ingredients:
- 3 cloves garlic
- 50 gm of thinly sliced ginger
- 1 kg chicken thigh and legs
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 vinegar
- 3 pcs bay leaves
- pepper corn and salt
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 cup pepsi(softdrinks)
- 1 tbsp dried chillies(optional)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- dried chillies
Procedures:
- Saute and brown chicken in a heavy skilletby adding a little oil
- Add vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, bay leaves, sugar, salt, peppercorn, dried chillies and pepsi.
- Bring to a boil, simmer for 20 mins
- Cover and let simmer until it becomes tender. and all the juice is absorbed. add sesame oil before serving
- Enjoy!!!!!!!!!
Futuristic Menu
Food in the future……………………My fellow bloggers, I would love to share you what we did in our 2012 Christmas Party in our Church. There is a competition were every group needs to design and create a futuristic dinner booth. And I am very happy to tell you guys that we won the first prize. Yes, the overall champion booth. Who knows this might be the start of a new generation that food in the future might come into a capsule. A flavored capsule which you can choose a wide variety of viand such as roast meats, vegetables, dessert, soups and etc. What you think?………..The lovely tomato flower curving was made by my wife!!!!!

Don Buri – Gyudon (beef)
Gyudon…its a beef in sweet soy sauce serve in a bowl of rice. I remember this was the favorite of my previous boss. We had several revisions before we introduce this product to our customers. We cooked this with lots of onions & leeks…and the outcome is…blockbuster!!! A favorite japanese dish during our time. So I am happy to share you this recipe…Did you know that onions is a powerful anti-septic that is very rich in vitamin A, B & C. It also contains iron & calcium. The high contain of iron in onions makes it beneficial for the treatment of anemia…Onions also called as the “king of vegetables”…
Ingredients: Serves 4-6 bowls
- 100 gms butter
- 2 big onions (sliced)
- 1 stalk of leeks (sliced) – save some for garnishing
- 500 gms thinly sliced beef
- 1 cup sprite or soda water
- salt & pepper
- 1/2 cup kikoman soy sauce
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- pinch of hondashe
- 1 sheet of nori (seaweeds) cut strips
- pinch of sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp cornstarch dissolve in 1 cup water
- Eggs – optional (to be cooked per bowl)
Procedures:
- Heat butter and saute onions & leeks for 3-5 minutes. Add in beef and stir fry until light brown in color. seasoned with salt & pepper.
- Add in soda water and boil for 30 minutes using low fire. (stir every 5 minutes)
- Add in the rest of the ingredients. To cook egg, in a small pan, pour over a gyudon mix then add egg, cover untl egg is cooked. serve in a bowl then garnish with leeks.
- Enjoy!!!
DON BURI-Chicken teriyakidon
Don buri- anything or any food serves in a bowl and over rice. This recipe I made is similar to “KATSUBI STYLE” in Albany, since my wife always dine to japanese restaurant, I decided to make a week long japanese menu as our dinner…and the results is..after 3 days she doesnt want to eat japanese anymore…(hehehehe)….Did you know that vegetable in yasai itame such as beansprout contains all of the nutrients found in the various fruits and vegetables. It has protein, carbohydrates, major vitamin contribution: B vitamins, folate, vitamin C Major mineral contribution: Iron, potassium. thus, some studies says it may help with weight loss and improve risk markers for cardiovascular disease….
Ingredients:
Chicken bread mix
- 100 gms chicken meat (sut into bite size)
- flour for breading
- 1 pc egg
- salt & pepper
- oil for frying
* coat chicken meat with flour then dip to egg then dip to flour again, fry until golden brown.
Teriyaki sauce
- 1/2 cup soy sauce(kikoman)
- 3 cups water
- 100 gms of grilled chicken bones (to get that smokey flavor)
- 1/2 cup cornstarch dissolve in 1 cup water
- salt & pepper
- 1 meium onions
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp hondashe (japanese MSG)
- 1 stalk of celery
- carrots & poato peel (optional)
Procedures:
- in a separate pan, heat oil and pan grilled chicken bones until darkly cooked. (to get that smokey flavor)
- In a large sauce pan, place all ingredients except cornstarch, sugar and kikoman.. boil for 30 minutes. set aside and strain.
- pour over sugar and kikoman..let it boil and add in cornstarch.. adjust your desired tickness by adding little water. stir well
Yasai Itame: (serves 3-4 persons)
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 medium onins
- 1 small bell pepper
- 100 gms beansprout
- 50 gms carrots julliene.
- 2 tbsp kiko man
- salt & pepper to taste
In a bowl, add a steamed rice and topped with chicken, yasai itame and pour teriyaki sauce.
Don Buri – Katsudon(pork)
Katsudon…..its a breaded pork cooked in egg & sweet soy sauce over steamed rice. You can also try this using chicken(torikatsu) or in beef(gyudon). . . Did you know that consumption of Pork in moderate quantities is helpful in gaining energy. It is good for skin, eyes, nervous system, bones and mental performance. Intake of Pork also ensures better immunity to body due to presence of essential antioxidants. But excessive eating of pork especially its fat may cause heart disease and may rise to hi-blood pressure….I recommend to eat less pork meat on your daily diet.
Ingredients: Good for one bowl
Pork bread mix
- 100 gms pork meat
- flour for breading
- bread crunbs
- 1 pc egg
- salt & pepper
* coat pork meat with flour then dip to egg then dip to bread crunbs, fry until golden brown.
Sweet soy sauce
- 1/2 cup soy sauce(kikoman)
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp crushed ginger
*in a sauce pan, combine all ingredients and bring to boil, set aside(makes 4-6 servings)
You will also need onion rings & onion leeks and dried strips of “nori”(seaweeds) as optional.
Procedure:
- in a little pan, pour in 1/2 cup of sweet soy sauce, bring to boil then add breaded pork meat, pour in remaining egg, onion rings & leeks. cover until egg is cooked. serve in a bowl of steamed rice.
- Enjoy!!!
