Kid’s Pork Barbeque


It’s my version of pork barbeque, specially made to catch the attention of kids. On my observation, In general most of the children loves to eat something sweet. Who’s children cant resist on a marshmallows, chocolates and many more. So I made this barbeque more on the sweet and saucy side. It is a combination of soy sauce and banana ketsup with an asian twist by adding a fish sauce on the marinade mix. believe me, once you place this on a charcoal grill, every single car or vehicle that pass by on your garage will smell this wonderful barbeque aroma………………..Did you know that pork lessen its fat contents by the method of charcoal or oven grilling. Although pork is associated with lots of heart related diseases such as arising of hi-blood pressure. You might also consider that pork is a good source of vitamins and minerals such as riboflavin, potassium and thiamine. Thiamine, along with other B vitamins, works to produce energy from the carbohydrates you eat. It also helps to keep your eyes, skin and hair healthy and works to maintain your nervous system………..

Ingredients: makes 15-20  sticks depending on your desired size of barbecue

  • 1 kilogram pork meat – thinly slice
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp achuete powder
  • 1 cup sprite or 7 up
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp of salt & pepper
  • 3/4 cup banana ketsup

Procedures:

  • in a container, mix all ingredients except pork meat. mix well then add in pork and rubbed evenly
  • place 4-5 pcs of porkmeat on a skewer(bamboo stick should be soaked to water for at least 2 hours to prevent from burning)
  • best marinate for atleast 3 hours before grilling. brush the remaining marinade mix upon grilling your bbq..

Oven Baked Pork with Hoisin-Barbeque sauce


It’s a barbecue with a touch of asian, that’s the hoisin sauce. All the different flavors such as sweetness of sugar, sour of lemon, saltines of fish sauce blending together and matching with the distinctive taste of hoisin and sesame oil, Whew!! What can you ask for? ready the charcoal, and let’s start the barbeque…..Did you know that hoisin sauce is primary ingredient is cane sugar?, and cane sugar is good in prevention and treatment of cold and flu symptoms. It helps reduce congestion and ease sore throats. Cane sugar also helps prevent cancers like prostate and breast cancer. Also, unlike refined sugars, sugar cane helps revitalize, energize and hydrate the body after exercise……

Ingredients:

Roast Pork ingredients: good for 6-8 persons

  • 1 kl pork chops / pork belly
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 5 cloves finely chopped garlic
  • 1/2 each of salt & ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup rice wine
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup soda water or sprite

Procedures:

  • In a container, mix all ingredients except the pork, mix well.
  • Add in pork and rub evenly. cover container and marinade for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight.
  • roast pork at 180 degree celsius for 30-45 minutes
  • serve hot!!
  • enjoy!!!

Vegetable Toppings:

  • 1 stem onion leeks chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 small shallots minced
  • 2 tbsp ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup water

* in a small pan, heat oil and saute all the ingredients, serve on top of the pork barbecue.

Pork Barbeque on sticks


Pork barbeque….this is a very popular street food in my country. You will find this food in almost every corner of streets especially during afternoon time. It is great for snack and “pulutan” (appetizer) for alcoholic beverages such as beer and wines. On that same food stall, we are also selling all kinds of BBq, to name some, we have, Paa ng manok(chicken feet), Betamax (blood of pig), Bbq intestines (chicken or pork) and more….

Did you know that Pork is the number one dietary source of thiamin and it offers an impressive amount of vitamin B as well. Pork is naturally low in salt and a rich source of good quality protein…But too much eating of pork especially its fat can lead to some serious health problems.

Ingredients: makes 12-15 skewers

  • 500 grams pork meat – thinly slice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup sprite or soda
  • 1 tbsp lemon or calamansi juice
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup

Procedures:

  • in a container, mix all ingredients except pork meat. mix well then add in pork and rubbed evenly
