Gambas and Vegetables


Since I have a little girl who hardly eat vegetables, I decided to cook my gambas not the traditional way. I cooked it with some vegetables to add color and to attract the attention of my daughter. My original plan is to have this as our appetizer because I am planning to drink a glass wine. But since there is no wine on my rack, we just have this as our dinner. This dish is really great for appetizer especially if you will served it on a sizzling plate. I think I need to go and grab some wine……………………..Did you know that shrimp is a very good source of vitamin D. This vitamin regulates the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which is essential for strong teeth and bones. Shrimp has also anti-inflammatory qualities that can help reduce gum swelling. And above all, Shrimp is also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids which reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems because it reduces cholesterol in the blood…….

Ingredients: good for 3-4 persons

  • 500 gms shrimps
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables(corn, peas, carrots)
  • 3 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium white onions sliced
  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 pc fresh tomato quartered
  • 1 tsp seasoning soy sauce
  • salt & pepper
  • pinch of oregano
  • pinch of dried basil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Procedures:

  • In a teflon pan, heat oil and saute garlic and onions, add in shrimps and simmer for 5 minutes allowing the shrimp flavour to come out. then seasoned with soy sauce, you may hear the seared sounds.
  • add in all spices oregano, basil, salt and pepper.
  •   then add in fresh tomato and tomato sauce.
  • Add mixed vegetables last.
  • Enjoy! you may serve to a sizzling plate.

Nilasing na Hipon (drunken shrimps)


If Jackie Chan is the “drunken master”, this recipe is the “drunken shrimps”……..It’s a  mix of shrimps and beer!!! It is very similar to halabos na hipon using sprite or 7-up. I mentioned the similarities, so lets talk about the differences. After eating this, you’ll be drunk(just joking). Since beer have an alcoholic content, it enhance the flavour of the shrimps as well as it softened and caramelized its textures…….Did you know that shrimps are good source of vitamin D. And this vitamins helps build strong teeth and bones. Just like other seafoods, shrimp is heavily loaded with omega-3, which is a very potent ally against heart-related diseases along with problems in the cardiovascular system…..

ingredients: serves 4-6 persons

  • 500 grams shrimps
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup beer (any brand)
  • 1 medium white onions diced
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • salt & pepper
  • chillies (optional)

Procedures:

  • In a wok, heat oil and saute garlic and onions. add in shrimps and seasoned with salt & pepper. pour in beer and let it boil. do not cover. let the alcohol content vaporize.
  • Serve hot!!
  • Serve hot 

 

Crispy Shrimps with soy and vinegar sauce


I am craving for shrimp, but I just want it to be simple….and I want it to be paired with my stir-fry vegetables. The Idea of this crispy shrimps is to eat everything, from tail to toes, believe me, It is so crispy that only the “shrimp mustash” will be left behind! (sorry I dont know hot to call that thing on the shrimp)……..Did you know that shrimp are known to have excellent benefits for the health, which makes those often high-price tags quite worth it. If you are on a low-fat and low-calorie diet, shrimp should be part of your daily diet. Also it helps build strong teeth and bones, because it is a good source of vitamin D. Shrimp is a very good choice as it has very high levels of this essential vitamin. Just like other seafoods, shrimp is heavily loaded with omega-3, which is a very potent ally against heart-related diseases along with problems in the cardiovascular system……

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kilo medium shrimps or prawns
  • 1 tsp salt
  • cooking oil for frying

Dipping sauce:

  • 3 tbsp churasca hot sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 pc shallots chopped
  • 2 cloves garlci chopped
  • 3 red chillies

Procedures:

  • Seasoned shrimp with salt
  • Then fry until crispy…That’s it!!!
  • Enjoy!!
